 DICAP® products are linear saturated polyester diols with a pendant carboxylic functional group. The OH terminated polyester chains are achieved with DMPA®(dimethylolproprionic acid) initiated polycarolactone. The acid group promotes water dispersability of the resin after neutralization with a base or can improve adhesion to difficult substrates. DICAP® can easily be used in combination with polyester, polyether, acrylic, or polycarbonate polyols to formulate pre-polymers for polyurethane dispersions without DMPA®. Since no DMPA® is required NMP may be reduced or eliminated from the formulation. |
